Apple Dumplings

You probably think that all thoughts of dessert the day before Thanksgiving in the US are on pumpkin pie.

But this is what I'm going to do in a few minutes for breakfast (don't scold about the calories, ok?): apple dumplings.

This recipe is so easy and I love the syrup that covers the apple dumplings.  The weird part is that canned soda pop is added before cooking.
Here is the recipe and video from FoodTv:

Ingredients:

* 1 package crescent dough (8/package) * 2 apples peeled and quartered * Cinnamon * 1 stick butter * 1 1/2 cups sugar * 1 teaspoon Vanilla * 8 ounces 7-up (or any clear soda)

Directions:

1 Melt 1 stick butter, sugar and vanilla in saucepan over med./high heat. 2 Roll 1 quarter of apple in crescent dough. Pinch edges to seal (it’s okay of apples are showing). Repeat for all dumplings. 3 Place dumplings in a greased dish. Sprinkle tops of dumplings with cinnamon. Pour butter mixture over dumplings, and follow with liquid 7-up (I used apple cider and ginger ale). 4 Bake at 350 for 40-50 minutes. Serve with vanilla ice cream.

Fruit and bread are included in this breakfast dish, so all is needed is a glass of milk and a vitamin.
