Flowers have an expression of countenance as much as men and animals. Some seem to smile; some have a sad expression; some are pensive and diffident; others again are plain, honest and upright, like the broad-faced sunflower and the hollyhock.
Must try to watercolor hollyhocks again. Get new frisket at store.
I still love the pig painting and the dog one-I love your art!!!! I must show a painting I did of a hollyhock a few years ago, and one of my lilies....Don't have a scanner though, so I have to just take photos of my art.
ReplyDeleteYou make me think I need to go outside and turn the corner to check on my hollyhocks. I love your art, too!
ReplyDeleteSorry it didn't work the way you wanted. If those hollyhocks were in my yard they would look brown & yellow because the lack of water is turning everything into fall colors way too early!
ReplyDeleteMe too Nancy, love your pigs! And, hollyhocks are great flowers. Have a great weekend-I know you will 'do-over' your painting!♥
ReplyDeleteYou gotta love them pigs! Still adorable.
ReplyDeleteUgh, I am so sorry about the frisket! Very frustrating. I've had the same thing happen to me before. But I want to encourage you not to abandon the painting! The pigs look great! There is a professional artist in our town who leaves his frisket right there on the painting. Not sure why, but he does and it works well. And personally I have found that I sometimes like my painting better before I take the frisket off - I think because the pigment over the frisket gives a softer light than the stark white paper. Just a thought:-)
ReplyDeleteI understand your problem, but I still like the painting. :)
ReplyDeleteI love looking at your work - I'm not really a painter/drawer, so it's fun to see how you approach all your different arts and crafts.
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy *hugs*
ReplyDeleteWell you are still doing a great job even though that frisket or whatever it is...isn't working for you. I wish I could do that.
Aren't hollyhocks wonderful? I love the definition of them too.
Hope you are having a great week so far.
Judi
I think the final result is awesome, Nancy. I like how there aren't any defined lines. I love the pigs' two-tonedness.
ReplyDeleteI love how it turned out! You nailed it!
