We were told by a bus driver that one form of lichen grows only on the Hebrides because of the pure ness of the air quality. I've not yet found this particular species yet, but here are a few pictures of lichen and lobster boxes.

ReplyDeleteWow! I hope you are holding up well, Nancy! Thank you for keeping us posted.
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness, kilts, lots of them - my distant Scottish heritage is whispering for a trip to Scotland and a kilt of my very own. You are having such a nice time there Nancy, seeing the 'real country' and not the touristy stuff, Betty x
ReplyDeleteCool kilts. Do you see a lot of men wearing them for day to day errands?
ReplyDeleteLovely evocative pics Nancy! I particularly love your ones of the highland cows - they've always rather appealed to me! I was surprised to see the lobster pots - tend to think of them as a Cornish or Devonian thing down south and I didn't know they fished for lobsters up in the Hebrides. Interesting. E x
ReplyDeleteThese are good pictures. Those cows certainly look healthy! But, I especially like the church.
